ABSTRACT

Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of death in women worldwide and the leading cause of death from malignancy in women of developing countries. It was carried out a quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study in the period of October 2013 and March 2014; with the aim of describing the risk factors associated with cervical cancer in the adolescents attended in the consultation of cervix pathology at "Fe del Valle Ramos" Hospital. The population was formed by 64 adolescents who had their first consultation. The survey was used to obtain the information. Statistical processing was performed using absolute numbers and percentages. The results were summarized and presented in tables. In the studied sample prevailed the surveyed patients who started their sexual relations before the age of 16; they referred that they had had more than one sexual partner; they did not use contraceptive methods consistently; they had suffered from interruptions of pregnancies and reported that they had had sexually transmitted infections.
