DZ-Zenker's diverticulum, TC-computerized axial tomography, NPD-no pathological data.

ABSTRACT

Introduction The Zenker diverticulum is more common in adults and infrequently seen in pediatrics, is more frequent in men. The clinical symtptoms are dysphagia, vomiting, regurgitation and sometimes increased volume in the lateral part of the neck. The diagnosis is ratified with X-ray studies and endoscopy. The management is surgical. We had a patient under one year of age with this pathology that motivated us to present and make a brief review of the literature.
Case Report Female patient age 9/12 without relevant history, had clinical history of 4 days with symptoms of upper digestive tract, complicated by bronchopneumonia. Radiological studies and with endoscopic images ratified the diagnosis DZ and was treated surgically with satisfactory result.
Discussion We debate some epidemiological data and clinical presentation of DZ. The diagnosis and the open surgical treatment is mentioned and briefly review the types of endoscopic therapy
