ABSTRACT
We present a series of 78 patients who were subjected to common duct exploration. There were 41 female and 37 male with average age of 55 years six cases of choledochoduodenal anastomosis are included. The average time of surgery was 180 minutes with a conversion rate of 6.4%, minor complication were present in eight 10.5% and residual stones were found in four 5.1% cases. The average hospital stay was four days and mortality in only one 1.2% patient secondary to a complicated pancreatitis following ERCP and ES.
Laparoscopic common bile duct exploration is a reality and in a near future will allowed to resolve the majority of the cases, decresing morbi mortality, lowering the cost of surgery with all the advantages of the minimally invasive techniques.
