In little occasions, art, medicine and technology are closely related; it is the case of the labor of don Manuel García Sitches, personality of the 19th century, that may be considered singer, professor of singing, sanitary assistant military in campaign and metropolitan hospitals, scientific researcher and inventor. Excepting its of singer facet, he was able to provide knowledge that changed all disciplines he was dedicated, thanks its obsession for investigating the physiology of larynx and the mechanisms of voice emission, that caused the discovery of the procedure of exploration of indirect laryngoscopy. Many previous attempts of great medical personalities in history only gave partial results and, in general, unsuccessful. We communicate a summary of the multiple bibliographical reports, most of them in Spanish, from medical sources and artistic sources of the bel canto. In the medical sphere, the legacy of the Spanish physician Antonio García Tapia should be highlighted, who in 1905 published its work “Manuel García. Su influencia en la laringología y en el arte del canto” (Manuel García. His influence on laryngology and on the singing art), document in which are based multiple authors of works about this great artist, docent and scientific.
