ABSTRACT

The mandibular condylar hyperplasia is a disorder characterized by excessive development of the head and neck of the condylar processes and of the mandible. It can be unilateral or bilateral, which may condition a dentofacial discrepancy and facial asymmetry. High condylectomy, the replacement of the articular disc and orthognathic surgery are surgical methods used for the correction and treatment of condylar hyperplasia. The case of a male patient aged 17 diagnosed with bilateral condylar hyperplasia who underwent bimaxillary orthognathic surgery, bilateral high condylectomy and glossectomy reduction is presented.
