ABSTRACT

The coelomic cavity is connected to the midgut through the omphalomesenteric duct, which disappears between the fifth and ninth weeks of intrauterine life. The persistence of this and the urachal duct are the most common congenital malformations of the umbilical region. We report a teenager with an umbilical polyp of delayed diagnosis and resolution, with a brief literature review.
