Importancia del diagnóstico precoz en el cáncer de mama

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Breast cancer continues to be one of the most common cancers in Cuba and the world. Objective: To determine the diagnosis of breast cancer. Methodological Design: It was carried out an observational, retrospective, longitudinal, and descriptive in the mastology group of The Hospital Teaching Clinical-surgical "October 10" in the period from January 2010 to December 2011, the universe was composed of 74 patients and the sample of 35 patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The patients older than 40 years were the most affected with the 80 %. The diagnosis in stage II with the 62.8 % was the most frequent. The radical mastectomy was the most performed surgical treatment in an 80 % and the affected of the lymphatic nodes were poor with 51.4%. Conclusions: Breast cancer is more frequent in the older than 40 years, did the diagnosis in early stages were done, with little use of mammography continuing the radical mastectomy in the vast majority with affected to axillary lymphatic nodes were poor.
