ABSTRACT

Backgrounds: I made a study observational, transversal, to know the handling the hypertensive patient for their diagnosis until now period, and impact economic of this pathology in the social security. Methods: The population count until September 31st 2011 in the Health Area of Guacimo is 3445 patients. I reviewed 577 records, in order to analyze age, genre, weight, smoking, blood pressure, the year of diagnosis, class and quantity antihypertensive therapy, complications, associated diseases (obesity, dislipidemia and diabetes mellitus) and some laboratory exams. Results: The populations to enroll are 541 patients, the ratio womenmen 2:1, the blood pressure average was 130/78mmHg. On regards the risk factor, 63% men are older than 55 years and 25% women older than 65 years, smoking 9%, 45% had glucose high or equal of 100mg/dl, 47%, diabetics 33% and whit dislipidemia 39%. Conclusion: Less than half of patients to carry out with the hypertensive goal. The principal complications are the renal failure and left ventricular hypertrophy. The obesity is the associated diseases more frequently. On regards annual cost in drugs and laboratory for a one patient is 13 509.92 colons.
