ABSTRACT
The first cause of cancer
mortality in Costa Rica is the
Gastric Cancer, occupying
most of the budget of our public
health system. This study
analyzed some epidemiological
aspects that show the evolution
of the disease between the years
2009-2013 in the population
attached to HCLVV. The results
show a higher prevalence in
the males, in an average age
of 64.7 years, living in the area
of San Ramon. Most patients
had the diagnosis by biopsy of
adenocarcinoma. The surgical
procedure used most often was
the distal gastrectomy with
D2 lymph node dissection and
reconstruction in Y Roux.
