ABSTRACT

Subclinical Hypothyroidism (HSC) is defined on the basis of biochemical findings: Elevated concentration of TSH and normal serum free T4. The HSC has been associated with an increased risk of overt or symptomatic hypothyroidism as well as coronary heart disease. This article reviews the evidence of treatment and management of HSC in three specific populations: Children and adolescents, pregnancy and elderly people.
