ABSTRACT
Psoriasis is a chronic
systemic disease that affects
approximately 2% of the
population, with cutaneous
and articular manifestations of
inflammatory characteristics
that are usually present as
erythematous plaques, well
demarcated, mainly bilateral
and symmetrical, located
in extension areas. It is
considered a multifactorial
disease in which genetic and
environmental components are
involved. Although the disease
has many specific and even
pathognomonic features, there
are no established diagnostic
criteria for cutaneous psoriasis
and there is no unified
classification for clinical
spectrum of the disease. Unlike
other autoimmune diseases,
histopathological examination
and analysis of blood are
generally not useful tools in
the diagnosis of psoriasis.
However, sometimes the
dermatopathologyc assessment
may be useful to confirm the
diagnosis of psoriasis.
