ABSTRACT

Falls are a common problem in older adults and carry with it significant consequences’ ranging from mild trauma to fractures that bring a significant increase in mortality and disability, generating an important social and economic burden. Statistically, one in three no institutionalized people over 65 fall each year. That is why health care providers should have accurate evaluation methods for fall risk in the elderly that allow an early intervention in the population identified. The purpose of this review is to analyze gait speed measured in meters per second, which is a simple and accessible
