ABSTRACT

Streptococo pneumoniae is one of the predominant infectious agents, in patients evaluated in the centers of Primary Health Care and Emergency Services. The main clinical features more morbidity and mortality is pneumonia, which depending on the age of the patient, existing comorbidities, the extent of it and its complications, is to generate a variable symptoms, which can range from mild to severe. The empirical treatment is based on clinical suspicion, with the presence of a new, progressive and persistent radiographic infiltrate.
