ABSTRACT

A transversal and descriptive study of deceased cancer people to whom necropsy was practiced in the oncologic service at "Dr. Celestino Hernández Robau" University Hospital was carried out from January, 2010 to December, 2014. All necropsy protocols were reviewed, and in those that thrombosis was present, localization of thrombosis and cancer was also identified; as well as, agand gender variables. The majority of all patients were older than 60 years and there were no differences in gender distribution. Presence of thrombosis was more often associated with lung and breast cancers. Necropsy findings of thrombosis were found in almost one - quarter of deceased people. In conclusion, thrombosis is a frequent cause of morbidity and mortality in cancer patient.
