ABSTRACT

Lymphoma t/nk nasal type is predominantly an extranodal lymphoma, associated with Epstein-Barr virus. Usually involving the nose and the upper respiratory and digestive tract. It is characterized by vascular damage with angiocentric and angiodestructive patterns, with lymphocytes of different sizes, mixed with eosinophils, plasma cells and histiocytes. It may appear an inflammatory infiltrate extending to the subcutaneous tissue, leading to necrosis and large nasal ulcerations. It mainly affects adults aged 50 to 60 years, preferably males (2: 1). Worldwide there are few reported cases in adolescents.
A 15 year-old male, with a six months history of a facial ulceration affecting right nasal wing, cheek and upper portion of the lip. The ulceration was a 5 cm in diameter with a depth of 1.5 cm, covered by seropurulent exudate and necrotic areas with erythematous border and crusts. Immunohistochemistry confirmed t/nk lymphoma, extranodal nasal type. He received chemotherapy and radiation therapy and patient survival after diagnosis was 15 months.
