ABSTRACT

A 55 years old man, from Costa Rica, builder, is brought into the emergency room, he refers upper gastrointestinal bleeding secondary to use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories. He consults because a three days history of haematochezia, gastroscopy was performed which shows erosive gastritis and he is discharged with oral treatment. After two days, he consults again to the emergency room with haematochezia; laboratory results showed anemia that deserves massive transfusion. Colonoscopy documents diverticula isolated in rectal sigmoid, so the patient was left in observation, a few hours later he presents hemodynamic instability that required surgery, documenting diverticula with massive bleeding in jejunum and 80 cm of it is resected. The patient was transferred to intensive care unit in the immediate postoperative and he is discharged 6 days later without any complications.
