ABSTRACT

This article aims to raise awareness about the importance of correct management of the ederly in the emergency department, there has been a rapid growth of these patients represent up to a quarter of visits to the emergency department. This due to population growth, considerable improvement in health conditions, better management of chronic diseases and significant changes since 1985 when an accelerated decline in the birth rate occur, which continues to the present where according to the projections of ederly population, in 2050 will be 21.1% of people over 65.
