ABSTRACT

Phimosis is an inability to retract the foreskin and discover completly the glans. It is a physiological process during the first 3-4 years of life and which should prevent forced retractions because they can generate a pathological phimosis. Phimosis may present complications like urinary tract infections, balanitis or paraphimosis. The first line treatment is a short course of topical steroids, and only in selected cases the performing of circumcision is indicated.
