ABSTRACT
Osteomyelitis is a progressive
infection of bone that results
in inflammatory destruction
followed by new bone; whose
pathogenesis is multifactorial
and poorly understood.
Important factors include
the virulence of the infecting
organism, the underlying
immune status of the host,
and the location and type of
vascularization of the bone.
