elbow olecranon bursitis, treatment, diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

The aim objective is to establish the management of olecranon bursitis because it is a relatively common problem encountered in emergency services. One third of cases are linked to septic processes. The remaining two thirds are linked to non-septic olecranon bursitis, including traumatic and idiopathic cases. Other cases are occasionally associated with rheumatoid arthritis or gout. As the clinical diagnosis can be difficult, and often are not diagnosed; the treatment of choice are antiinflammatory but often these lead to a delay in diagnosis. When cases are septic etiology can be treated with incision, drainage and antibiotics. This assignment seeks to evaluate the diagnostic and treatment options, which allow a better approach to emergency services.
