ABSTRACT

Objective: Present the case of a successful remove of a textiloma from the abdominal cavity via endoscopic surgery. Design: Report of one case. Location: Second Level Hospital Description of the case: Thirty four years old patient presenting a 5 cm diameter mass located in left iliac cavity; presenting abdominal pain in the same place and difficulties in defecation including chronic constipation. Preceded by a 5 year old caesarean operation. The following laboratory and cabinet exams were taken: CHB, UGE, TP, TPT, SC, ES, HIV, colon enema and abdominal CAT; with the following results: preoperational labs reported no alteration; colon enema and abdominal CAT showed an occupant mass joined to lateral wall of sigmoid colon. A minimal invasion exploration was performed, finding a mass on the sigmoid antimesenteric border; it was embraced but easily dissociable from the colon and extractable throw one of the ports by using a surgical glove bag. The piece was sent to pathology service for study who reported a foreign mass (textiloma). The patient presented a good evolution, she was discharged 4 days after the surgery. Conclusion: A good result was obtained using endoscopic surgery in the extraction of the foreign mass but still there is no a diagnostic or therapeutic option.
