Characterization biopsicosocial of the informal caregivers of patients with chronic illness and or terminal

ABSTRACT

Introduction: It is still subject of research interest overload caregivers, defined as an external phenomenon quantifiable people; Despite the many studies generated around caregivers.
Objective: To characterize a biopsychosocial approach informal caregivers of patients with chronic and / or terminal dependent care.
Method: Cross-sectional study in the municipality Majagua during 2013. The study group consisted of 87 informal caregivers, who were applied a questionnaire validated by experts. The information obtained is summarized in contingency tables for analysis absolute and relative frequencies (percentage) were used.
Results: Female sex predominated 82.75 %, the age group 35-44 years 22.98 %, 60.91 % do not receive the aid, receive family support 20.69 % 87.35 % have fatigue, emotional support, taking vital signs, and medication management is performed by the 100.0 % of caregivers.
Conclusions: Caregivers were characterized by a predominance of females; the highest percent do not receive aid and the recipient's family, present manifestations of fatigue, muscle pain and feelings of loneliness, actions that more is done to their family support emotional, taking vital signs and medication management.
