ABSTRACTSchwannomas are benign neoplasms of peripheral nerve sheaths that rarely present as foot tumors. We report the case of a 57-years-old woman with an isolated, painful nodule in the great toe adjacent to the lateral nail fold. Diagnosis was not suspected based on clinical characteristics, requiring surgical excision. Histopathological examination revealed a cellular schwannoma, which is an infrequent variant that presents clinically very similarly to the classic form, with a slight tendency to develop more often in deep structures. The tumor was surgically excised with excellent cosmetic result and complete resolution of symptoms without any side-effect.
