ABSTRACT

Palatal mucosa necrosis secondary to infectious diseases in pediatric patients is rare. Acinetobacter bacterium is a coco-Gram negative bacilli still considered as an opportunist pathogen located in wastewater and soil. The genus Acinetobacter is usually commensal and occasionally causes infections especially in immunosuppressed patients undergoing chemotherapy or respiratory tract and urinary tract. It is subdivided into A. baumannii, A. junii and A. lwoffii. The most common in skin infections is Acinetobacter baumannii. A case of male patient 12 months of age with palatal mucosa necrosis secondary to Acinetobacter lwoffii infection is reported valued in Hospital General «Darío Fernández Fierro», ISSSTE.
