ABSTRACT

Objective: to characterize the students who participated in the Assistant Students and Instructors Movement in Pathology Anatomy subject of Latin American Medicine School from November 2008 to November 2015. To describe the main activities that were planed. To analyze the outstanding results of the developed work.
Methods: a descriptive and longitudinal study was conducted, which universe was the total of second year students of Medicine. Latin American Medicine School, from November 2008 to November 2015 and the sample taken was of 117 students, belonging to Assistant Students and Instructors Movement in Pathology Anatomy subject.
Results: in the teaching learning process of the Pathology Anatomy subject took place 89 assistant students and 28 instructors, predominating the African students and the male sex was predominance. Sixty eight methodological activities were developed, twenty five visits to hospitals, the Museum of Pathology Anatomy was founded and twenty three interesting case studies were developed, a chart board of histological imagines as a teaching aim, the students teach 210 activities, supported the professors in lessons and participated in scientific student sessions, they got 22 prizes (14 Outstanding at province level), and publicated three papers in high impact journals.
Conclusions: it was demonstrated the useful and satisfactory work developed by the assistant students and instructors in Pathology Anatomy, not only from the point of view of teaching, but also for research, and the importance of the individual teaching differences and the professors and tutors control should have on this work, stimulating the creativity and responsibility of students.
