ABSTRACT
Cherubism is a rare hereditary osteopathy, but frequently it appears as a spontaneous mutation affecting both the maxilla and the mandible. It causes several osteolysis due to substitution of normal bone by fibroconective tissue, with a marked enlargement of the bone, which causes overgrowth of the maxilla and cheeks, upward gaze and a round and symmetric face resulting in a gross appearance resembling a cherub. We present a case of cherubism in an 18-year old male patient with a 10-year follow up, who has progressive enlargement in facial dimensions.
