ABSTRACT

Introduction: The test of Rey auditory verbal learning (RAVLT) is an instrument used in clinical neuropsychological practice, useful for memory performance in older adults, but in Mexico there is no standardized data, and therefore, the aim of this paper is to report the performance on RAVLT of a group of seniors from the State of Hidalgo, Mexico.
Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional design was performed. People who showed a yield ‹22 in the Mini Mental State Examination were excluded.
Results: The final sample consisted of 145 older adults: 109 women and 36 men, with an age range between 60 and 75 years, who were divided into 4 groups by age (60-69 and 70-75 years) and education (0-6 and 7-14 years). We found that the group with the lowest score was composed by the older individuals and with less schooling. In the other three groups no significant differences were found. Percentiles distributions for each of these groups are herein described.
