ABSTRACT

Introduction: skin irritation has nothing to do directly with the teeth eruption. There is no scientific substantiation that provides an explanation in this regard. Health education plays an important role in its treatment and in this regard, the health staff plays a fundamental role as educator and guard of the maternal-infant health.
Case presentation: a ten-month old boy with relapses of perioral dermatitis related to primary teeth eruption, whose mother was reluctant to use corticoids for his treatment.
Conclusions: combination of adequate pharmaceuticals and non-pharmacological measures, mainly based on health education, are essential for the treatment of this problem from a multidisciplinary approach.
