Main results from the application of a piece of software in the Morphology and physiology of human eye

ABSTRACT

Introduction: the learning of morphology and physiology and the application into the teaching process of Information and Communication Technologies is one of the lines that Cuban health system has drawn up for medical students.
Objective: to determine the main results of the application of an educational piece of software in the morphology and physiology of human eye.
Method: a descriptive cross-sectional, pedagogical study was conducted at Mayabeque School of Medical Sciences during the academic year 2013-2014. Empirical, statistical and dialectical materialist methods were used. From a target group of 210 students, 90 students were randomly selected and interviewed.
Results: 100% marked all the options corresponding to the video gallery modules, images gallery, glossary, articles, books and other link of interest. In the option No-2 belonging to the module of Contents the 93.3%, 88.8%, 72.2%, and 94.4% selected it; in the options 8, 12, 13 from the Coach module respectively, the options 2 and 4 with 91.1%; along with option No-5 the 86.6% from module of Help, followed by General Considerations with 92.2%, 96.6%, (options 4, 5, 6, 8, 12), some elements were not selected by the totality of the students.
Conclusions: the students selected most of the options in each module. This demonstrates the results of application of this piece of software, as a contribution to the teaching-learning process applying modern teaching methods.
