ABSTRACT

Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common benign tumor of the salivary glands, with greater predilection for the parotid gland. We present the case of a 53-year-old female patient with a 15 x 12 cm increase in volume in the parotid and right genial region with eight years of evolution. A simple CT scan of the region revealed a well-defined parotid tumor affecting the superficial and deep lobe of the right parotid gland. An incisional biopsy confirmed the histopathological diagnosis of pleomorphic adenoma, for which reason a total parotidectomy was performed without preservation of the facial nerve.
