ABSTRACT

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a disorder that arises from experiencing or have explained to a person an event that threatens the life or integrity of a human being. The frequency of the disorder in Mexico is difficult to specify according to studies, but because of the high levels of violence in most states of the Republic, it is reasonable to infer that its prevalence in our country is high. Therefore, it is necessary to know the treatments that have shown evidence of efficacy. In this paper we describe and compare interventions, along with their results, for PTSD: Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and Desensitization and Reprocessing Eye Movement (EMDR). A search was conducted in various scientific search engines in Spanish and English publications such as Pubmed, Redalyc and Dialnet. We worked with articles and finally experimental or quasiexperimental studies, the results are discussed and clinical implications derived from them.
