ABSTRACT

Introduction: obesity is a common disorder increased significantly in recent decades. Continues to increase in most countries, interacting, like sedentary lifestyle, with increased morbidity and mortality from various diseases, particularly cardiovascular disease, diabetes type 2, some cancer, falls, depression and anxiety, which are a major concern worldwide.
Objectives: to explore the role of physical activity in the therapy of obesity and sedentary lifestyle reversal and review physical exercises/physical activity most successful programs.
Method: areview of the literature on the positive health effects of physical activity and exercise programs/physical activity more effective in reversing obesity and sedentary was performed.
Conclusions: perform 3-5 days per week no less than 30 min of moderate aerobic exercise or 20 min of intense exercise, spread of no more than three daily sessions, and 2 days weekly exercises to increase muscle strength and preserve the flexibility of muscles and tendons helps prevent premature morbidity and mortality associated with physical inactivity and obesity. Small increases in physical activity of daily living and reducing sedentary time bring some benefits.
