ABSTRACT

Breast cancer is the most common neoplasm in females and one of the main causes of death in this group. It was performed a descriptive retrospective study of deceased women for breast cancer during the period of 2014 to 2015, with the aim of describing the mortality rate of this disease, taking into account the residence area, the average age of the deceased women and the potentially lost years according to popular councils in Bayamo. The statistical methods used were the mortality rate, absolute values, average values, absolute numbers and the potentially lost years. Results showed an increase in the mortality rate, prevailing in urban areas, average age of the deceased women is over 50years and the San Juan-El Cristo popular council contributed with the greater rates the potentially lost years.
