ABSTRACT

The duplication of the digestive tract is rare and can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract, often share a common vessel wall and contribution was cystic or tubular structures and are more frequent in the esophagus and ileum and only 4% to 18% affects the colon, therefore its diagnosis and management is more complex. For a male 9-year-old presented with a complete colonic duplication arising from the blind, who was being managed with enemas for constipation and later seized by suspected megacolon secondary to Hirschsprung disease, but in retrospective review of imaging start site of replication is observed. The importance of imaging studies where the discovery of a large collection of gas in the abdomen in apposition to the colon in the X-ray is suggestive of a duplication and where barium enema can be of great value excluding other possible causes of denoted large collections of gas.
