ABSTRACT

It is a female patient of 61 years, with a personal pathological history of hypertension and viral hepatitis. Three days prior to admission a retrograde cholangiogram was performed by endoscopic to remove colejicial lithiasis. Subsequently, she began with general discomfort, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and fever; in her admission it was found icterus and it was diagnosed as cholangitis; after the acute phase, a cholecystectomy was performed. She evolved unsteadily and had new cholangiography that showed sclerosing cholangitis and biliary tract hemorrhage. She was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit with diagnosis, in addition, liver failure grade I. She presented anury and elevated creatinine, so hemodialysis was performed and it was proposed hepatorenal syndrome; she evolved unfavorably, she had a cardiorespiratory failure and died. At the necropsy, a cholangiocarcinoma was evidenced.
