ABSTRACT

Migraine is one of the most common neurological alterations in women of reproductive age. Natural and traditional medicine provides beneficial treatments for this disease. A prospective, longitudinal and quasi-experimental study of patients suffering from this disease and seen at «Cmdte. Manuel Fajardo Rivero» University Hospital was carried out from January to June, 2013 with the objective of evaluating therapeutic response after being treated with catgut implantation and ear acupuncture. Sample was constituted by 26 patients who were randomly divided into two groups. Patients undergoing catgut implantation showed pain relief and reduction of migraine attacks in shorter time to treatment. Hyperactivity of liver-Yang had the best diagnostic evolution.
