ABSTRACT

In order to evaluate the implementation of the curricular strategies of the medical career in the Mathematics subject of the preparatory course of the Latin American School of Medicine, a longitudinal descriptive study was conducted, from September 2010 to July 2016, the evidences in the department were reviewed In the plans and minutes of the methodological activities, the academic controls, the materials for the direction of the teaching process of Mathematics and the elaborated scientific works. As a result, it was possible to verify that the five curricular strategies for medical care were implemented in time, since most of the students are non-Spanish speakers, the English language was replaced by another one that facilitates the development of communicative skills in Spanish. The use of the term has diminished in the minutes of the methodological activities, although the interdisciplinary in the texts of the problems used in classes and in the written evaluations is observed, it is part of the academic materials elaborated and the scientific works in master and doctor thesis and articles. It is evident in the classes greater use of the strategy of educational work, followed in that order by the Spanish, research and computer science, public health and environmental training and natural and traditional medicine. The curricular strategies are an essential part of the methodological work developed by the Mathematics Department of ELAM, since interdisciplinary responds to the lines followed during the period evaluated and is registered in the teacher controls.
