ABSTRACTIt was made a prospective, comparative study, observational, in a group of 98 college students of the medicine school. The number of messages that made daily by Whatsapp through his cell were quantified. Later they were selected according to the results obtained during the school year 2014-2015 the subject of Biochemistry the high and low academic performance. The results showed that lower educational achievement made on average more than 300 messages per day, constituting a direct distractor, with a relative risk (RR) of 2.27. There are two times more likely that a student who send more messages a day have a low educational achievement comparing with the one who sends less. It is urgently required control this addiction from students, parents and school authorities, though apparently they are now university students and have self-control.
