ABSTRACT

Until proven otherwise, all cases of orbital trauma should be approached with suspicion for penetrating injury with possible intraorbital foreign body. Many types of foreign bodies may cause orbital inflammation and secondary infections, the material and its nature determines the treatment. Organic foreign bodies must be removed since they may cause secondary infections with formation of abscess and fistula.
This report presents the case of a patient with an organic intraorbital foreign body; its diagnosis and treatment. Details of management are discussed.
