ABSTRACT

Any systemic, environmental, medical or genetic alteration during the enamel initiation or maturation phase will leave a permanent mark on the taoth (manifested as an alteration in the translucency of the enamel with defined yellow or brown edges). The hypomineralization occurs in both deciduous and permanent teeth, making the enamel weaker, more porous, and can fracture easily increasing the risk of tooth decay and the need for a restorative treatment. The case of a medically compromised pediatric patient with severa molar hypomineralization diagnosis in deciduous dentition is presentad, showing that a proper diagnosis and early treatment improved his oral health condition.
