ABSTRACT

Radiation-induced temporary alopecia has been reported as a complication of endovascular radiological procedures. We present four patients who developed alopecia after these procedures. Hair loss occurred in all cases between the second and third week after embolization, and hair regrew spontaneously in a period no longer than 12 weeks. Alopecia areata is the main differential diagnosis. The detection of temporary alopecia and radiation reduction to the least amount necessary are important preventive measures.
