Buschke-Löwenstein tumor in the pregnancy. Case report and literature review

ABSTRACT

Background: Buschke-Löwenstein tumor (also knows as giant condyloma acuminatum) it is a rare skin disease associated with the Human papillomavirus. It located in perianal, anorectal and genital region. During the pregnancy, genital wars tend to proliferate, this is associated mainly by the immunological condition, it has high recurrence rate and in the most cases the treatment is surgical.
Objetive: To report a case of Buschke-Lowenstein tumor that was presented during the second trimester of pregnancy, and treatment provided and short-term monitoring of the patient.
Clinical case: A 18 year old patient, primigravid, whose began her current condition three months prior to hospitalization, with a tumor in the perianal region, and significant growth increased in the last 4 weeks. Surgical excision of the lesion was performed, complicating the fifth day with wound dehiscence. It is administered during his internment broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy, uncomplicated graduates continuing monitoring and following up over the next ten months. Term pregnancy was culminate at term, with interruption via abdominal, without recurrence of the tumor.
Conclusions: There is no definitive evidence to suggest that treatment is superior to another. If the lesions are not extensive during pregnancy can be treated until after delivery, however extensive changes condyloma, can be treated surgically, possibly during the second trimester of pregnancy.
