ABSTRACT

This paper reviews hypereosinophilic syndrome and heart disease with useful information in clinical practice. A search was made in English and Spanish in the Pubmed database with the terms “eosinophilia”, “hypereosinophilia”, “hypereosinophilic syndrome” and “eosinophilic myocarditis”. The articles that for the consideration of the authors contained information applicable to our means of care were included in order to resolve clinical questions. The diagnosis of hypereosinophilic syndrome requires compliance with established criteria; heart disease is uncommon, but in case of threatening life the therapeutic strategies include conventional hemodynamic support, steroids and imatinib.
