ABSTRACT

A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in the municipality of Baracoa, from January 2007 to December 2015, to present the behavior of thrombolytic therapy in acute myocardial infarction. A universe of 494 patients from the hospital with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction. The sample consisted of 75 patients who received thrombolytic therapy. The variables were given by: age, sex, state at discharge, period of time for admission, needle-thrombolytic therapy. There was a predominance of males, with the age group of 61 to 70 years being the most represented, with delay of admission, beginning of therapy and time of door-needle. Acute myocardial infarction is a health problem in the municipality of Baracoa, with a high mortality rate and is related to the inadequate use of thrombolytic therapy.
