ABSTRACT

A descriptive investigation was carried out on the clinical and epidemiological behavior of urinary tract infection in 384 infants graduated from the Guantánamo Children's Hospital from January to December 2013. The primary data were collected from the medical records and transcribed to an emptying sheet. Data were analyzed: age group, reason for admission, isolated germs, diagnostic means. The results showed that the disease was more frequent in females, the age group from 29 days to 6 months, with fever predominating as a symptomatic expression and Escherichia coli as a causal agent, prenatal and postnatal history were not present in all cases. Complications include anemia. Acute phase reactants, urinary sedimentation, and urine culture were among the most common antibiotics, Ceftriaxone.
