ABSTRACT

The Advances in medical and surgical treatment have increased the survival of patients with congenital heart disease; their presence increases the risk of maternal and fetal adverse events. An investigation was aimed to assess the care of women with congenital heart disease related to preconception evaluation, preconception maternal-fetal risk, counseling and genetic counseling, childbirth and contraception was performed. To perform the literature search update was developed in the Virtual Health Library Infomed in the databases Medline Complete, PubMed Central, Hinari, regional Scielo and Scielo Cuba, was restricted for the last 14 years.
