ABSTRACT

We labeled clioquinol with Iodine-131 and proved this new radiopharmaco in experimental animals with good results. Lately in 12 patients with Alzheimer’s disease we carried out scans of the brain with radiactive clioquinol and in two of them we produced radiolisis of the amyloid insoluble plaques in three months. Nobody of the patients presented adverse reactions in six months of clinical and laboratorial follow-up. We propose the new radiopharmaco and method with more statistic research for the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
