ABSTRACT

Introduction: Enduring an effort over an extended period of time involves enhancing physical endurance. There are many methods and techniques to develop this capacity, including the specialized design of content specific to programs of physicalrecreational activities. Objective: To know the incidence of two programs of physical-recreational activities in aerobic resistance in non-trained female organisms during three weeks of work. Methods: We studied two independent groups of 20 untrained subjects, female sex (14-15 years), who were given a general program of physical-recreational activities (Group 1) and another program of activities physical-recreational activities with an emphasis on recreational soccer (Group 2). The programs were applied with a daily frequency from Monday to Friday during 45 minutes, being a substantial part of physical education classes of the Colegio Quito. Results: None of two programs showed significant differences in the aerobic capacity acquisition in a short time (Group 2: p = 0.068; Group 1: p = 0.138) in the grouprelated sample study (Wilcoxon Test), although the program with an emphasis on recreational soccer presented better positive ranks than the other program (Group 1: a positive range; Group 2: nine positive ranges). There were no significant differences in either pretest (p = 0.860) or postest (p = 0.529) for independent sample (Mann-Whitney Test), although for both tests the program of activities with an emphasis on recreational soccer presented better average ranges in pretest (Group 2: 56.29 and Group 1: 56.27) and posttest (Group 2: 21.68 and Group 1: 19.33). Conclusions: There was no significant improvement in Vo2max in any of the studied groups. However, it is recognized that the program specific with an emphasis on recreational soccer showed better indicators of aerobic endurance for female sex in a short time.
