ABSTRACT
Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma is a malignant tumor which originates from keratinocytes of the skin or mucosa, being considered the second most common cancer in the head and neck after basal cell carcinoma. Its etiology is multifactorial, being the predisposing factor prolonged sun exposure (ultraviolet radiation), which directly affects the cell’s DNA, so it has been associated infection human papilloma virus, influencing the immune status of the patient. It is extremely important to know prognostic factors such as: tumor size, depth, histological type, perineural invasion, risk areas and drainage areas, which will increase the risk of recurrence and distant metastases, impacting significantly on the forecast patient. Treatment of squamous cell carcinoma may be multimodal, from surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. We present our experience in the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma skin of a female 64 years old, which is referred to our clinic by the presence of an ulcerated lesion in the frontal region, by adhering to protocols established in international and national literature. Surgical resection is performed more rotation skin flaps for reconstruction of the residual defect, obtaining both functional and aesthetic satisfactory results, which directly impact the quality of life and prognosis of the patient.
