ABSTRACT

Any discussion of the events that happened in Germany during the period between 1933 and 1945 includes a debate about the role that German medicine played in them. A review was carried out with the objective of arguing the importance that medicine had for the establishment and development of the Nazi regime, 15 bibliographies were consulted. Nazi doctors participated in the development and application of massive extermination methods, being responsible for the murder and sterilization of thousands of people. In the concentration fields, they performed experiments with human and selected the individuals that would die. The German investigation institutes and medical universities were benefitted of these cadavers. The study of the role that medicine had in the Nazism may contributes to the formation of health professionals and this manner to avoid the repetition of these facts.
